AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
These services may include, but are not limited to:
- Provide guidance and support to individuals regarding the ISTD’s professional development opportunities within the remit of the Education & Training Department, covering both teacher training opportunities and ISTD-run courses/development events, as well as how such opportunities fit within national qualification frameworks etc.
- Support the efficient processing of all administration relating to professional examinations, assessments and qualifications, registering candidates, disseminating exam papers and related documents to approved dance centres, logging returned papers & ensuring dissemination for marking, moderation and standardisation, and recording outcomes, and liaising with other departments for practical examinations.
- Work collaboratively with other staff members / departments responsible for the delivery of professional qualifications to ensure excellent service to clients and the maintenance of standards.
- Support the promotion of ISTD education activities, liaising with external organisations as required, eg higher education establishments, accredited centres, dance teachers/schools, venues etc, taking part in careers fairs and exhibitions as required.
- Maintain any Education and Training Department pages on the ISTD website as requested, in conjunction with others.
- Follow organisational processes in dealing with financial transactions, and maintain appropriate records as required.
- Participate in any other projects or tasks as required to support the Society’s aim and objectives.
PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential
- Clear verbal and written communications skills in English, in particular in dealing efficiently and competently with telephone and electronic queries from customers
- Proven administrative ability, with experience of processing data accurately and demonstrating excellent attention to detail while multi-tasking and meeting deadlines
- Demonstrable experience of working in an accurate, organised and methodical fashion to tight timescales
- Excellent keyboard skills and a good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
- Willing and able to work on their own initiative, while remaining aware of own limitations and when they should ask for help
- Proven experience of working effectively in a team to deliver excellent customer service
- Attitude of personal responsibility and accountability and a flexible and ‘can-do’ attitude towards the workplace
Desirable
- Previous experience of working within a dance, dance education or training environment, or similar
TERMS AND CONDITIONS
Hours of work: Standard hours are Monday to Friday 09.00 – 17.00 Working outside of these hours may be required on occasion
Holiday: 20 days per annum

ABOUT THE ISTD
The Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing (ISTD) is the leading professional body for dance professionals across multiple genres. It forms a community of around 7,500 active members around the world as students, teachers and examiners.
ISTD Head Office provides a wide variety of services to members, including: the opportunity to gain qualifications, access to sources of information and advice, and the chance to network and meet like-minded people at events. We provide additional products and services such as training and publications for members and non-members.
We have around 42 staff, most of whom work at our offices at Imperial House in Paul Street, London. We also have the ISTD2 Dance Studio located in Old Street, which hosts examinations, workshops and other events and activities.
Location
The job will be based in offices at ISTD HQ, 22-26 Paul Street, London, EC2A 4QE.
