Led by experts from the industry, this is the perfect opportunity to hear directly from casting directors, membership and union organisations, creators, theatre makers and more, inspiring and connecting you to the first steps in your career!

10:10 AM – 11:00 AM Business | The freelance career – everything you need to know!

Featuring a panel of colleagues including: Dame Rosemary Squire (Founder, Trafalgar Entertainment and Ambassadors Theatre Group), Jackie Clune (Vice President, Equity), Griselda Yorke (Producer, The Old Vic), Sally Hoskins (General Manager, Matilda the Musical), Eilish Harmon-Beglan (Dance Captain, Phantom of the Opera), Helen Gulston (Back to the Future) and financial expertise to guide young people through everything they need to know about approaching a freelance career and its practicalities.


11:05 AM – 12:00 PM Auditions | how to get them – and how to nail them!

Auditions are one of the most nerve-wracking aspects of a performer’s career, and can be daunting even for the most experienced artists. At this session featuring casting agents, directors, industry experts and performers including: David Grindrod CDG (Casting Director), Matt Hood (Managing Director, Spotlight), Ashh Blackwood (Actor, The Play That Goes Wrong), Michelle Blair (Michelle Blair Management), Issy Khogali (Matilda the Musical), this panel will share their tips and tricks for staying audition ready and what to do (or not do!) in the audition room.


12:05 PM – 1:00 PM Opportunities | how to ensure that you make the most of every chance!

A panel session featuring: Solange Urdang OBE (Co-Founder, Black British Theatre Awards), Dame Arlene Phillips (Choreographer and Theatre Director), Nancy Msiska (Production, Cameron Mackintosh Ltd) and Adam Adnyana (Assistant General Secretary, Equity) and Hannah Raynor (Actor, Dancer and wheelchair user) etc. discussing networking to create future opportunities, how to present yourself once you have secured a performance gig, and the best ways to support yourself through the ups and downs of a freelance career.
