GCE A2 Dance Theory Tutor Vacancy

The RAD Dance School is looking to recruit a GCE A2 Dance Theory Tutor.

Hourly rate: £31.75
Type of contract: freelance fixed term annual contract 30 weeks during term time
Working days: Saturdays only, 9.30am – 11.30am

The Royal Academy of Dance is a dynamic organisation dedicated to advancing standards of dance education, teaching, promoting and investing in the development of dance world-wide. 

The RAD Dance School, based at our premises in Battersea, offers GCSE and GCE AS and A2 Dance courses as well as a wide variety of dance classes for young people and adults with classes taking place during the afternoon and evenings Monday to Friday and also all day on Saturday during term time.

An opportunity has arisen for a GCE A2 Dance Theory Tutor in our RAD Dance School. You will have: •experience of teaching dance •familiarity with the AQA, A/S Level Dance specifications •experience in teaching dance theory in an engaging and inclusive manner, and •current knowledge of the 14 – 19 curriculum and of Dance in relation to the National Curriculum Secondary Strategy.

You should be committed and enthusiastic with an excellent educational background including a Postgraduate qualification or equivalent and have achieved Qualified Teacher Status or equivalent. You will be:

  • responsible for teaching GCE A2 Dance Theory lessons
  • marking and maintaining appropriate records
  • providing relevant accurate and up to information for registers and reports
  • required to undertake administrative duties associated with the teaching as required

SKILLS

You will:

  • have the ability to engage students with enthusiasm
  • have excellent interpersonal skills for teaching and advising / influencing students and colleagues
  • be able to work competently with a range of ICT programmes, including word processing, spreadsheets, virtual learning environments and databases
  • have excellent oral and written communication skills in English, and
  • organisational skills with the ability to plan, prioritise and meet deadlines, and to stay calm and positive under pressure.

Appointment to this post will be subject to an Enhanced DBS Check from the Disclosure and Barring Service, Disclosure Scotland or other applicable international body.
